Apps And Access
How app access is granted and why some services are visible but not usable.
Access is usually based on group membership.
Common App Entry Points
| App | URL | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Account portal | auth.shane.app/settings/security | Start here for account security and password changes |
| User help | shane.app/help/ | General help and login guidance |
| Jellyfin | jellyfin.shane.app | Media streaming |
| Open WebUI | open-webui.shane.app | Only if you were given access |
| Request portal | request.shane.app | Media requests |
| Headscale | headscale.shane.app | Only for users who were explicitly granted access |
Common Situations
- You can open an app but cannot sign in: your account may not be allowed for that service.
- You can sign in but still cannot do admin actions: you may have the basic user group but not the admin group.
- One media app works and another does not: those apps may use different groups.
- You can see the deployment docs link but cannot open it: that section is intended for the
lldap_admingroup.
What To Tell The Administrator
When requesting access, include:
- your username,
- the app hostname,
- and whether you need normal access or admin access.
